At least 10 killed as Indian train plows into Hindu pilgrims
An express train plowed into a crowd of Hindu pilgrims in eastern India on Monday, killing at least 10 people, Indian Railways officials said. The incident enraged other pilgrims, who attacked the Rajya Rani Express, setting fire to several carriages, and also attacked a nearby train station, AFP reported. The pilgrims were killed while they were crossing the tracks despite a red signal, the agency quoted railways spokesman Amitabh Prabhakar as saying. The accident occurred in Saharsa district in the state of Bihar, some 200 kilometers from the state capital, Patna.
